Biography

Ben Calderazzo: guitarist, keyboardist, percussionist, band leader, booking agent, guitar & theory teacher, composer, session musician.

Ben comes from a local family dynasty which has produced a number of successful musicians & others involved in the arts. As a child he studied piano and theory until finally settling on guitar at the age of 14, moving on to study classical and jazz guitar at tertiary levels, all the while playing in hard rock & metal bands! He formed the gypsy jazz group ‘Hot Club Swing’ in 1997 and has since only gone from strength to strength. He currently plays in a number of bands, ranging from jazz to funk to rock.

Ben has also contributed original music to short films, winning the Young Composer Award at the National Jazz Convention 1998, and has featured as a Latin percussionist with big bands and smaller ensembles.

Ben is the proprietor of Belle Musique Entertainment, a live music booking agency representing premier and established artists for various functions and events. All enquiries are welcome and no event is too big or too small.

He is the Head of Guitar Studies at Kardinia International College and has taught the Gordon TAFE jazz course as the principle study teacher as well as remedial classroom teacher for theory, big band and aural training.

Ben continues to develop and enjoy his varied roles as a musician, teacher and entrepreneur and always strives for excellence, whilst maintaining a certain humility and an esteemed professionalism in every endeavour he undertakes.
