Metropolis Gallery – PETER FERGUSON + JUDI SINGLETON: Geometree
23 March @ 9:00 am - 15 April @ 4:00 pm
The title of Peter Ferguson and Judi Singleton’s upcoming exhibition Geometree at Metropolis Gallery is derived from the coloured geometric shapes that appear in Peter’s prints and paintings, alongside the landscape of trees forming the basis of Judi’s new work: the tree as a symbol of life, growth and health.
Peter and Judi were two of the founding members of the important Roar Studios in 1982, with a distinctive, expressive naive style combining a riot of childlike human figures, birds, trees and buildings. The appeal of their work is reflected in the many successful exhibitions held at Roar Studios and major Australian galleries since then. Both artists are represented in many private and public Australian collections. Judi’s work can be found at the National Gallery of Australia; Artbank and Parliament House and Peter’s work is represented in the National Gallery of Australia; Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Sir William Dobell Foundation Sydney.
