TEACHER: Michelle Zuccolo
DATE: Weekend 13 – 14 January
TIME: 10am – 4pm (with lunch break)
LOCATION: QG&W mezzanine art studio
During the Drawing & Water Mediums weekend, Michelle Zuccolo will inform and instruct on general drawing and painting with a range of mediums ie. charcoal, ink, watercolour and acrylic.
Michelle will instruct on painting, initially with black and white, covering elements such as shadow, light, contrast, and textural mark making, before moving on to the use of colour.
Michelle is an experienced drawing tutor and facilitates a skill-based program for any level of experience.
Her thorough explanations and demonstrations along with text based examples make for a very informative workshop – you can expect to come away encouraged, well informed about painting with water mediums and feel very inspired!
Michelle will begin with traditional and contemporary approaches to drawing with charcoal, investigating structure, anatomy (of the taxidermy!), spatial organisation/perspective and also personal expression.
The emphasis will be on working directly from observation, drawing from compositional arrangements (taxidermy animals, flowers, every day objects, collectables, etc.), setup inside QG&W’s mezzanine studio.
Continuing with the observation of compositional arrangements that participants will be more familiar with after the first day, Michelle will incorporate the application of water mediums. Michelle will demonstrate and guide participants through the use of various applications and characteristics of ink, watercolour, gouache and acrylic.
Use the workshop as a warm up or to prepare for a 1:1 custom workshop with Michelle. Be sure to discuss the intention of a 1:1 custom workshop as Michelle will have plenty of preparatory homework suggestions for you so you make the most of your weekend!
