Joel Wolter is a professional artist and secondary school teacher. No matter what your level, age or experience with the arts, Joel will be able to guide you accordingly so that you achieve your desired outcome with this course.

Weeks 1 & 2
Relief printing – linocut

Week 3
Mono-print & monotype

Weeks 5 & 6

Experience first hand what the techniques entail by exploring the tools, materials and print methods as well as see Joel demonstrate and share his own personal printmaking tips and techniques.

This course is suitable for anyone who would like to learn the basics or even extend their print knowledge. If you are a beginner – perhaps retired or finished study and would like to establish a practice, or would like to grasp an understanding of the essential principles of printmaking – this course will help you achieve your goal.

Joel has guided various year levels including final year students through their education but also helped many professional artists as well. He has a wealth of experience to share and is a great facilitator.

The workshop is ideal if you:

  • want to learn and make prints using the linocut, mono, drypoint and copperplate etching printmaking techniques
  • would like to grasp a thorough technical perspective of these techniques
  • would like to prepare/enhance study
  • would like to learn about hand made prints
  • feel like doing something creative that does not involve digital input
  • would like to explore a different creative avenue

Participants can expect to:

  • experiment with a vast range of materials
  • make many prints
  • hear/watch Joel demonstrate his personal approaches
  • be very familiar with each technique and be able to work on your own afterwards
  • qualify to use the print access studio independently
  • gain a good understanding of each technique, associated materials, and tools
  • learn about costs involved to further explore printmaking

NOT INCLUDED: Coffee (gold coin donation), drawing journal, paper for editioning, accommodation and food. Plenty of food choice in Queenscliff
