ACTF Commission
Opportunity for artists with an idea that can tour…

What is on offer?

Regional Arts Victoria is proud to administer the Australian Children’s Theatre Foundation (ACTF) Commission, offered every two years. The Commission offers artists the unique opportunity to develop and tour their brand new work to primary school students across Victoria through our Arts & Education Program in 2018.

2013 Commission recipient, Jenny Ellis, Artistic Director of Little Wing Puppets used the funds to develop a new shadow puppetry work Spike. “One of the most difficult thing as a freelance puppeteer is carving out the time to create new work…the process I crave the most. Receiving the commission allowed me that space and the time to experiment.” Three years later, Ellis continues to delight new audiences with the adventures of Spike.

Balance, created by regional artist Dave Jones of Transience was the recipient of the 2015 Commission. Jones completed an extended tour in the Education & Families program this year. “The show evolved from a vision I had for a unique format that would engage kids physically with the concepts of sustainability and renewable energy (giving them a hands on feel for what was involved) through to a well rounded show that, I felt, lived up to the promise of the initial vision.”
Expressions of Interest are currently open for the 2017 ACTF Commission and will close 5pm Monday 30 January 2017. The commission is open to artist(s) across Australia.
