What is on offer?
- 12 Days of Christmas Market: 16 December – 23 December 2015
- Cruise Ship Visits – dates TBC (currently confirmed Sat 4 March, Tue 4 April 2017 and Thur 6 April 2017)
Following the success of our Scarf Festival demonstration program and visitor feedback we are looking to increase our craft demonstration program at other times in the year. The involvement of our volunteer demonstrators is a great asset to our exhibition program, a draw for many visitors and a great way to introduce our visitors to a broad range of arts and craft techniques and materials, and to introduce them to our region’s talented artisan community. For the second year we are running a ‘Demonstrators’ Market’ with the theme: 12 Days of Christmas. We will be marketing this to the community as an opportunity to see live craft demonstrations and to purchase local products in the holiday season. Cruise ship dates will be provided as they are booked, please indicate if you would be interested in being contacted for future “Demonstrators’ Market” opportunities.
The market space will be located inside the ground floor gallery [where the Scarf Festival was located]. The demonstration market will run from 10am – 3pm daily, including weekends (for cruise ship visits the market will run 9am-3pm each visiting day). We are asking demonstrators to commit to the whole run of the market. You are expected to be showcasing your skill alongside any products for sale. Market demonstrators are encouraged to sell their goods and/or services, for which the Museum takes no commission, but demonstrators are responsible for all sales and cash handling. Admission to the market will be free for visitors. A makerspace will also be available in the Gallery for visitors to make their own Christmas ornaments. If you would like to run a Christmas ornament workshop please contact the Programs Officer.
Conditions of Entry:
The Demonstration Market program aims to provide a range of interesting and diverse craft demonstrations for visitors during the holiday season, from 16 – 23 December 2016. Crafters and artisans are expected to commit to each day of the Demonstrator’s Market.
An area in which to host your craft demonstrations and stall at the National Wool Museum will be included at no cost to the presenter/s. Please note, no payment is available and all demonstrations must be held on a voluntary basis. We are unable to provide free parking for participants; please contact the Program Officer for parking options in the area. The Museum is happy to allow participating demonstrators to sell their craft goods and/or services and will promote the craft demonstration program.
If you would like to be involved, please contact Sara Pearce firstname.lastname@example.org and request an “expression of interest” form. Completed orms can be returned by email, mail or in person. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the details below:
