David King is an award-winning writer, filmmaker and video artist who also dabbles in experimental photography.
He began making films in 1974 and was a member of the legendary Melbourne Filmmakers’ Co-op. After graduating from the newly-established Deakin University in 1975, he worked as a freelance cameraman, advertising copywriter/producer with Geelong radio 3GL, radio and television scriptwriter with the ABC, and freelance journalist with newspapers, magazines and websites in Australia, England, New Zealand and the USA.
He resumed independent filmmaking in 1999. Since then his short narrative films have screened at festivals in Europe and Australia. His experimental films and works of video art have screened throughout the world at festivals, galleries and museums including the Australian National Museum and the Museum of Experimental Art in Mexico City. He also has three films in international distribution.
After living in Melbourne, Sydney, Townsville and Brisbane, David has settled on the Bellarine Peninsula with his partner and daughter.
