Pat McKenzie

Pats’ artistic journey began seriously after moving to live permanently in Aireys Inlet in 1995.
Living on a working farm she is surrounded by cattle, horses, kangaroos, wild duck and the occasional echidna & koala wandering through. Surrounded by National Park and only 5 minutes from the famous Great Ocean Road, there is much to give inspiration.

Studying under many renowned art tutors she now works in all mediums, depending on the subject matter, with no real preference but enjoys them all.
She began showing her work at local art shows and has won many awards, including Best Oil  at the Anglesea Art Show, Highly Commended at St. Kevins’ Art show , Peoples’ choice at the Lorne Art show, 1st Prize Painting section at Birregurra Art Show  and was chosen for the Surf Coast Calendar for 2013.
She has held several successful solo exhibitions at the Lighthouse Keepers Cottages and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne and at Eagles’ Nest Fine Art Gallery in Aireys Inlet. She has also been a part of a several joint exhibitions.

Pat has travelled extensively with her paints and with Margaret Cowling to Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucca, and the Cinque Terre, and with Ev Hales to Turkey. Maggie Cowling to Darwin, Kakadu, Litchfield National Parks, and Sicily, and to to the Kimberleys and to Cape York and with her husband to the Flinders Ranges. These excursions have formed the basis for many of her exhibition works.

When weather permits, she works in her own plein-air studio from the Lightkeepers Stables tea rooms near the Split Point Lighthouse, where locals and tourists can enjoy her work.
Her studio on “The Glen” has been a part of the Surf Coast Arts Trail since its inception.

Pat has sold many of her paintings, which are now hanging in private collections  in Australia and Internationally, including USA, Canada, UK, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Europe, Timor, and South Africa.

She is presently holding regular workshops and classes in Artworx art supplies in Geelong and at Spring Creek Community House in Torquay.

She welcomes commissions and her studio is always open by appointment.
