Since 2015 when Yan Huang established her creative studio in the Geelong, she and her team of specialist fabricators have been producing functional sculptures with artistic vision, design solutions, and meticulous craftsmanship.
After years of practising internationally as an automotive designer, Huang is now perched in Anakie pursuing her passion in creating functional objects of art. Her work pushes boundaries, fusing form, and function, exploring materials in fresh ways. Add to this her ability to interpret an individual brief and the result is an extraordinary, bespoke commission.
Huang’s masterpieces exist both in public collections (like the National Gallery of Victoria) and private collections, worldwide. Also collaborating with architects and artists each year, the studio’s pieces are part of the Geelong and Melbourne Design weeks. This year’s Melbourne installation, Daydream was a timely and co-incidentally topical response that aimed to give visitors a sense of wellbeing and peace.
