Glass Art Open Studio Sat. 8 December 2018 Drysdale
8 December 2018 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm| Free entry
Come and explore Glenda Mac Naughton’s working Glass art studio in Drysdale.
Breathing air into molten glass to blow, hand shape and spin it to create small sculptures and jewellery is one of Glenda Mac Naughton’s great creative joys. By softening and hand shaping glass using an oxygen and gas torch (known as flamework) Glenda creates one-of-kind glass art pieces inspired by natural worlds near and far. Her latest work is inspired by NASA images of outer spaces otherworldly colours, patterns and shapes.
Glenda loves pushing the boundaries of her own skills and knowledge and to that end has taken glass workshops with many leading glass artists internationally, most recently in Murano, Venice, Italy. She has gained many awards for her jewelry designs and small sculptures most recently achieving ‘Best in Show’ at the annual Drysdale international Festival of Glass for her hand blown glass sculpture inspired by the cliffs of the Bellawein (Bellarine).
Glenda lives in Drysdale where creates and sells her designs in her home Studio and in regional galleries. She also teaches lampwork glass and beadweaving. As a committee member of the annual Drysdale Festival of Glass (www.festivalofglass.net.au) much of Glenda’s time is spent organizing the event and promoting the beauty and possibilities of art glass.
Glenda will be demonstrating glass blowing, spinning and glass bead making and will have items for sale as part of her annual Open Studio is on 8 December, 2018. For more information follow her on Facebook (Glenda Mac), Instagram or visit her website (www.daxdesigns.com.au).
