Mark Brandi – The Rip

13 March @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Rip is an urban crime novel following a hidden trio of drifters and addicts in inner city Melbourne. Author Mark Brandi’s inspiration came from his intimate knowledge of Richmond, where in 2017 heroin overdose deaths reached a 17-year high, with 34 of those deaths occurring in a four-block area. While faced with enormously challenging circumstances, both main characters are portrayed with respect and dignity, and not as passive victims of circumstance. Mark is a rising star of Australian literature. His first novel Wimmera won the coveted British Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger, and was named Best Debut at the 2018 Australian Indie Book Awards.
