Portarlington Midwinter Words

24 July 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

| $50.00

Midwinter Words, Portarlington’s annual literary event, will be held next month on Sunday, July 24 in the Bayview Room, Parks Hall when author Paddy O’Reilly will run a short story masterclass.
The full-day masterclass is designed for those who have already done some writing and all participants should bring a short story they are working on. Paddy will focus on finding the beating heart of a short story and bringing it to the fore. She will cover topics like how much can be fitted into a short story, point of view, voice and style. Action, conflict and emotional development will also be highlighted.
Paddy is the author of three novels and two anthologies. Peripheral Vision is her most recent book. Her stories have won many prizes and her books have been shortlisted for major awards, including the ALS Gold Medal and the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards. She will launch the new anthology, Reflections, a collection of poems and stories written by 15 Portarlington writers, after the masterclass.
