The Outcaste Weakly Poet Stage Show

28 March 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Artist: Stella Nova
Artist: Stella Nova

If you’ve ever passed a bedraggled poet selling his poetry with exquisite drawings on Melbourne’s Lygon St., Sydney’s King Street in Newtown, or in Regional Victoria – Geelong, you might be interested in this live follow-up to ‘The No-Teeth People’ (ABC Radio National 2007, 2012). It is the true story of the OWP, passers-by and a life lived on the fortune of the streets.

This show has had a developmental season at La Mama in 2013 and a week long season in August 2014 (La Mama) before heading to the King Street Theatre (Newtown) for the Sydney Fringe 2014. The show now starts its journey home – to Geelong – where it all began.

The Outcaste Weakly Poet Stage Show, directed by Kerry Davies, is an exhibition-styled monologue performance featuring the writings and performance of Scott Welsh, punctuated with the music of Zenta Schubert on guitar and piano accordion, sketches and drawings from Stella Nova shown as projections, all encapsulated in a stunning contemporary movement narrative by Elnaz Sheshgelani.

Viewers can immerse in the atmosphere of the show in the beautiful settings of @Dog Rocks Studio or online. Venue details: @Dog Rocks, 41 Tolloora Way, Batesford.
