FREE School Holiday Programs for 12-25 year olds

Get creative and be sure to book in to these fantastic programs held by Geelong Youth this Summer, limited spots available.

Making things with paper:

A day full of activities with paper. Take scrap paper from the recycle bin and make beautiful handmade paper. Learn origami and fold intricate animals, birds, and dolls. Create patterns of marble in multiple colours and transfer them to paper.

 

MONDAY 7 JANUARY 2019, 1.30PM – 4.30PM
THE OLD COURTHOUSE, GHERINGHAP STREET, GEELONG

How to make a fanzine:

Get ready to go zine crazy! Join designer and illustrator Joshua Maxwell De Hoog to learn how to make your first zine. This three hour class is full of history, ideas, and illustration tips to free your imagination and help you create an awesome, empowering little piece of print. Zines are a cheap form of printed expression.
They’re DIY, easy to reproduce, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to get started. The whole point is sharing something YOU care about and YOU want people to know.

TUESDAY 15 JANUARY 2019, 1.30PM – 4.30PM
GEELONG YOUTH, 17 GHERINGHAP ST, GEELONG

Make a small sculpture:

In this three-hour workshop, participants will learn basics of ceramics from pinch pots to coils and more. Artist Dani Salvo will show students how to work the wheel and they can have a turn as well.
Students will create sculptural objects using hand-building techniques that will be fired and taken home at a later date.

THURSDAY 17 JANUARY, 1.30PM – 4.30PM
4/39 SMITHTON GROVE, OCEAN GROVE

How to create a podcast:

If you’ve been thinking about creating your own podcast but have no idea how to begin setting one up this could be for you.
This workshop will walk you through all of the basics of setting up a podcast. You will learn how to put a program together, record and edit a podcast, and how to upload it to the internet.

FRIDAY 25 JANUARY 2019, 1.30PM – 4.30PM
WAURN PONDS LIBRARY, PIONEER RD, GROVEDALE

These classes are strictly for 12-25 year olds. Includes vegetarian/gluten free snacks.
