Art classes with Deb and Ryan Brearley:

Painting the Landscape

Participants of this class will learn the process of working ‘en Plein Air’. A  French expression which means “in the open air” and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors, which is also called peinture sur le motif (“painting of the object(s) or what the eye actually sees”) With discussion of materials and working methods, we will start with drawings and build the participants visual knowledge enabling them to complete small painted studies quickly and with confidence. This can then be the basis of larger studio paintings. Although the class will be primarily done in oils, those who wish to work in Watercolour or Acrylic are more than welcome.

Mondays April 24th to June 26th 9.30am to 12.30pm. Cost: $180 for 9 weeks.

Craft of Art

Students will complete a series of exercises to fine tune and further their understanding of Tone, Form and Edges. Exercises will be completed in oil or Acrylics. We will also discuss and make tools, like viewfinders, that assist when drawing and painting.

Mondays April 24th to June 26th, 1.30pm to 4pm. Cost: $160 for 9 weeks.

Reduced fee for attending both Monday classes: $320
