Breakdown Screen Printing Workshop
Join renowned printmaking artist Gaye Nieuwenhof in the studio for a fabulous two days of screen printing. If you have ever wanted to learn how to print on card, paper or fabric then this workshop is for you.


This incredible artist Gaye Nieuwenhof is teaching a number of art workshops in 2016 and kicking it all off is the breakdown screen printing workshop on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd of January. Gaye has been teaching for over 40 years and is our resident printmaking teacher. She brings her passion for inspiring to each lesson that she teaches and her enthusiasm is infectious.

In this screen printing class, Gaye will lead you through the extremely exciting process of creating incredibly textured and coloured imagery. Her process takes advantage of the resist qualities that dried, thickened dyes have and allows you to produce organic and spontaneous prints using basic techniques.

This workshop is great for beginners and experts in screen printing, as Gaye will demonstrate the basic techniques that are needed to produce some amazing works that are truly individual. The simplicity of this screen printing class is incredible and it allows everybody to create their own unique marks onto card, paper and fabric using the same simple techniques that can lead to an infinite number of possibilities. The class will give you detailed instructions on how to prepare your screen, what materials are used, how to mix your dyes and the different variations on deconstructed screen printing techniques.

Gaye’s teaching style is inspirational and informative and we’re sure that you will gain some great knowledge that will inspire you to keep creating as soon as you get home. Deconstructed screen printing classes are great for thinking outside the box and learning how to let go and go with the flow of creating. In this workshop you will be printing onto fabric, so there is a number of possibilities for you after the workshop is over. You could turn your fabric into cushions for your house or simply frame it for your wall. This class runs for two days, starting on Friday the 22nd and finishing on Saturday the 23rd of January 2016.

The class will go from 10am to 3pm each day with a great lunch and morning tea provided for you, so you can keep focused on producing arty goodness all day and not have to worry about what you’re going to have for lunch.
