Anita Iacovella is a professional artist and lectures in printmaking and drawing at The Gordon TAFE part-time – a position she has held for the past 19 years. Anita is very well known for her monoprint/monotype technique and is a brilliant facilitator.

AIM

With Anita‘s workshop, you can expect to explore contemporary and painterly approaches and create many unique works on paper grasping a thorough understanding of Mono printing.

Anita gets hands on sharing her personal techniques and her wealth of experience. Initially running through the history of Mono printing and taking you through basic tasks so you understand the differences between monoprint and monotype, Anita will then progress you through more complex contemporary & traditional mono techniques.

There are no limitations to Mono printing and creating unique state works. You are welcome to steer the workshop by bringing along papers, previous work, textured items and set your agenda, or allow Anita to tap into your pace, your level and your creativity to help you produce a small suite of prints in a variety techniques by the end of the day.

  • Direct Drawing (drawing from still life)
  • Subtractive and gestural Mark making
  • Additive applications (adding organic materials or stencils to the ink surface)
  • Discuss ink mixing, papers, plates preparation setting up the press etc.

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED: All levels and experience
