Music workshop for experienced musicians to test group improvisation by Conduction Method

Posted 16 April 2021

A FREE Guided group improvisation workshop will be held Tuesday 20th April – 7.00pm to 8.30pm, Virginia Todd Hall, 9 Clarence St, Geelong West.

The workshop will use a method called “Conduction”. This method helps a group of musicians improvise together. It is a method that guides the musicians with the facilitator using simple hand signals as instructions. The workshop will start with us learning some of the basics and then performing some group exercises.

Firstly, all instruments are welcome, including vocalists. To do this workshop you need to be comfortable and competent on your instrument. For string and brass players, you will need to be able to play your notes cleanly.

The workshop exercises will require playing simply and clearly. No reading required.

I am interested in trying out the Conduction method with other musicians. I have been studying the method, but this will be my first time using it with a group of musicians.

This is an opportunity to connect and be creative with other musicians and to try something different.
No preparation required.

If you are interested, then please email Toby at toby.crook@yahoo.com.au.

Please note that numbers will be limited to 15 people, first come, first served.
