Each workshop results in a performance. Positions are limited and bookings are essential. Full weekend, full day or single workshop tickets available.

LUCY GUERIN – Instant Dance Devise and respond to scripts for collective and individual movement. Lucy Guerin is a choreographer and the Artistic Director of Lucy Guerin Inc.

INGRID VOORENDT & KATE SULAN – Performance Making Use a series of images as a springboard to create performance using text and movement. Ingrid is a performance maker and director with a dance background. Kate is a theatre maker, the Artistic Director of Rawcus and a long-term collaborator with Back to Back Theatre.

JOSEPH O’FARRELL (JOF) – Infinity Space Junk Make interactive environments from sound, junk and drawings. Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) is a theatre maker, installation artist and curator.

YUMI UMIUMARE – Animal or Ghost? Discover your own surreal and funny face and body expressions through being an animal and/or ghost! Yumi Umiumare is a Japanese Butoh dancer, choreographer and performance maker.

JACKSON CASTIGLIONE – The Speechmaker Explore political influence through words, charisma and hairstyles. Jackson Castiglione is a director, artist and teacher. He is a founding member of Field Theory live art collective and works in TV, digital media and contemporary performance.

SOMA GARNER – Performance & Design Explore the rituals of transformation by creating a space with projections, drawing, set and costume. Soma Garner is an artist, set and costume designer and creative director of Memory Shelter.

IRIS GALLIARD – Puzzled Story Tell your story with forms and genres. Start with a Greek tragedy, carry on with tap dance and finish with a rock song. Iris Gaillard is a French born Melbourne based theatre director.

EMMA IKIN – Flight of Fancy Create costumes using recycled and found objects to celebrate the idea of a re-imagined body map and explore the movements of your transformed self. Emma Ikin is a costume designer and theatre maker.

JASON MALING & TAMARA SEARLE – Performance & The Gallery Perform as a fully authorised work of art in the Geelong Gallery. Jason Maling is an artist who designs experiences. Tamara Searle is the Artistic Associate at Back to Back Theatre.

TANYA GERSTLE – PULSE PULSE is a physical and collaborative approach to turning your personal stories into short performances. Tanya Gerstle is a theatre maker and Artistic Director of OpticNerve Performance Group.

BRIAN LIPSON – Oopsydaisey Discover how to be embarrassing (using poetry). Brian Lipson is an actor, writer, director and designer – he has written 9 poems.

RUSSELL FLETCHER & SARAH KINSELLA – Heroes & Villains Improvise stories about birth, death, weddings, breakups, journeys, quests, success and disaster with flawed heroes and awesome villains. Russell Fletcher & Sarah Kinsella are comedians, improvisers, directors and workshop leaders.



Back to Back Theatre has 6 free positions to offer individuals between the age of 12 – 16 who are interested in processes for devising performance. Applications for emerging artist positions will be open for four weeks, closing on Monday 20 February 2017.
