Writer Opportunities from the City of Literature Office
Opportunity for writers to pitch their new creative works

What is on offer?

Writer Opportunities from the City of Literature Office

The City of Literature understand the loss of regular and upcoming work due to the impacts of COVID-19. Supporting writers, the team are seeking to commission a minimum of 30 new creative works of any genre and form.

They are seeking works that capture their attention, reflect the quality of Melbourne’s literary work, and are grounded in place; drawing upon Melbourne, wider Victoria and other Cities of Literature.

If you are interested, please send through a one line pitch (maximum 50 words) describing your idea.

Have a look at previous submissions here and have a scan of what has been published on their social media to get a sense of what you could pitch.

Please note this call-out is only for writers currently resident in Victoria, Australia.

Think carefully about how your work can be presented. Think outside the box! Again, they want to be surprised and delighted.

Pitch today! They will be commissioning across the next month. Pitching your work will end mid-April.

(Special note from City of Literature Office: We can’t publish your novel, produce your play script or support a project that you have had fall over. Sorry. We also don’t want preexisting work.)
