Platform Arts creating opportunities for emerging artists with new residency program

Platform Arts is now accepting applications for LAB, a new $5000 residency and program for emerging artists and collectives in Geelong.

Following the success of the Adopt a Seat fundraiser and Brackets Art Prize, Platform Arts is excited to offer this substantial opportunity for emerging artists to build their careers. The new program will support emerging artists to develop their practice, test ideas and engage in contemporary dialogues.

The Platform Lab residency program will provide time, space, mentorship and financial investment for up to four individuals or collectives. Successful applicants will receive a six-month residency with studio/rehearsal space, $5,000 cash and ongoing support from industry professionals. This program will provide a number of opportunities and is open to anyone across all disciplines (performance makers, visual artists, sound/lighting designers, writers, multi-artform artists etc.)

Platforms Executive Producer Llana Russell and Curator Amber Smith will be hosting a live-streamed Q&A on Tuesday 4 August from 5.30pm. Potential applicants are encouraged to submit their questions online prior to this date.

If you are interested in applying, make sure you download the LAB Application Guidelines for the full list of criteria and eligibility, and read the FAQs before applying.
