Queenscliff Gallery Hosts Michael Leunig Exhibition

Michael Leunig’s wonderfully fragile and humorous works will open the new year for  the Queenscliff Gallery.

The exhibition will showcase the artist’s paintings and engravings, along with never before seen, original works that have been created specifically for this exhibition. In his deceivingly regressive, yet complex style, this celebration of Leunig’s work will champion the simple joys of human nature and the wider natural world that Leunig is known, and loved, for – a child with a flower, a wide embrace, a song.

An Australian Living Treasure, Michael Leunig is a celebrated cartoonist, writer, philosopher, painter and artist with a career spanning over fifty years. Unafraid to comment on political, cultural and emotional life, Leunig’s work has been described – in the artist’s own words – as “messy, mystical and primal”, and often draws upon the things that Leunig loves most: nature; talking to strangers in the street; walks in the local park; morning coffees. His prints, paintings and drawings have been exhibited broadly, and are currently held in both public and private collections.

Exhibition dates: Dec 30 – Jan 25, 2021
Official opening: Jan 3, 2021 from 3 – 5pm
