Registrations Open! Mountain to Mouth2018
Posted 25 January 2018
Registrations are open for Geelong’s own multi-award winning extreme arts walk, Mountain-to-Mouth2018 (M~M2018), to be held Friday 4 and Saturday 5 May 2018.
In the tradition of Wadawurrung, M~M creates a contemporary songline traversing the City of Greater Geelong and the Borough of Queenscliffe.
Covering 80 kilometres, from the granite ranges of the You Yangs to the mouth of the Barwon River at Barwon Heads, M~M brings together art, sport and community to connect with the land.
Your adventure awaits! You choose the distance. You choose the challenge. You can start or finish at any of the 12 Songline Stations on the walk.
M~M2018 begins at the You Yangs, crossing the industrial heartland of Geelong before arriving in the City Centre to collide with Geelong After Dark, a night of extreme and unexpected arts.
At dawn the next day, follow the Barwon River through rolling Bellarine farmland, along ocean beach to reach the Barwon Heads river mouth at sunset for a spectacular closing ceremony.
The route is marked with edgy artworks commissioned for M~M2018, bringing people together through shared experiences of extreme arts that celebrate the land, our place in the land and communities residing within.
In partnership with foundation partner Gen-U, 50% of all registration fees will fund the Greening of the Songline, a planting program of trees and shrubs along the walking route.
The time has come to gather your friends and family and join your local community to discover and uncover a connection to land.
