Shedding the Blues Announces Mens Health Project

Shedding the Blues has been funded to deliver whole group seminars and smaller group elective workshops on a range of topics including: Optimism and Positivity, Emotional Intelligence, Dealing with Stress and Anxiety and Resilience.

Optimism and Positivity will touch on optimism as a concept that says we can  change our attitude and behaviors – by recognizing and challenging our negative self-talk, among other things. It is the opposite of learned helplessness. This topic will be explored as a whole group as soon as restictions begin to ease in July. Emotional Intelligence has been defined by Daniel Goleman as our capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. The topic of Stress and Anxiety will also be discussed as stress is any demand placed on your brain or physical body. The final topic Resilience will be explored in a smaller elective workshop.

Shedding the Blues is very fortunate to obtain the services of Derek Rogers and the Thrive Movement to facilitate these interactive seminars and workshops. They will be announcing dates, times, locations and the number of available places as soon as the future restrictions are made a little clearer and we will closely follow the Covid protocols agreed by the Queenscliff Neighbourhood House.

Looking forward to the members of Shedding the Blues getting together in the near future to explore these topics. Look out for the sign-up forms being sent out in the near future.
