Tales from Many Lands – Whittington meets Western Edge Youth Arts
Posted 6 September 2018
Just around the corner from you, Art may be happening. Here is a little story from a little school that should start you looking around your local area for what is happening ‘under the hood’ of Geelong’s suburbs.
Western Edge Youth Arts (WEYA) have been working with Whittington Primary School through 2018 and in August this beautiful program came to fruition.
Tales from Many Lands
WEYA’s third residency in Whittington Primary School involved 170 students in a performance titled Tales from Many Lands.
Imaginations ran free as students performed creative folk stories involving fools, fairies, Kings, Queens and monsters. The project aimed to help students build confidence and improve their oral language, and was very well received by families of the students and teachers.
“I think drama was awesome and it made me more confident. I liked our play because everyone was speaking loudly, and I loved the music and lights” – Whittington Primary student
